Dear parents and/or guardians,

We will place a “student homework pickup bin” outside the front door of our school. This bin will be left outside throughout the evening.  If your child is absent, please communicate with their teacher to get their homework.  When the teacher tells you that the homework is ready for pickup, please then stop by Point anytime AFTER 4:00pm to pick the items up from the bin.

Reminder: If your family is experiencing Covid related symptoms and are in the process of getting tested, please play it safe and keep your child home until you get the test results.  We appreciate everyone's help in keeping our students, families and staff safe!

It is so important that you and your child review the Mehlville School District Health Screener questions listed below.  Everyday students come to school in a Blended Model and/or At School Model students and parents should review the Mehlville School District Screener and answer NO to every question on the Mehlville School District Health Screener BEFORE sending students to school every day.  Thank you in advance for your assistance and cooperation.

  8. A headache that cannot be attributed to another health condition

  10. Close contact in the past two weeks with a person who has a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19

The entire Point staff  would like to say THANK YOU to all of our Veterans!  We appreciate your sacrifice and bravery and for keeping our country safe and strong! We hope you enjoy your cards/letters and it was an honor to recognize you throughout the week!

Happy Thanksgiving! We know 2020 has definitely been challenging, but even in these challenging times there is still a lot to be thankful for!  I hope you enjoy your break and are able to reflect on all the wonderful things that bring you gratitude.  I know I can speak for my entire staff when I say that Point Elementary is very thankful for each and everyone of our students and their families.  We hope your family has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

PARKING LOT: Please note that if you’re picking up your child from Parent Pickup at the end of the school day you will be unable to pull into the back parking lot until 3:15pm due to children being outside for gross motor time / gym time.  Please avoid arriving earlier than 3:15pm to prevent traffic backing up on Telegraph Road.  Thank you for your cooperation.

*IMPORTANT* PARENT PICK UP/DROP OFF:  Please avoid getting out of your car if at all possible for the safety of your child and all children.  Also, students should have their masks on prior to being in the parent drop off line to keep the flow of the parent pick up line moving.

WALKERS DURING PARENT PICK UP:  Please do NOT park your car in the Point parking lot and then walk over to the walker area.  The walker area is only for families that walk to school for parent pick up purposes.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation - this will help to eliminate any congestion in the flow of traffic leaving the school parking lot and eliminates congestion in the walker area.  If you are a walker, we ask that you wear a mask while you are social distancing and waiting to pick up your child.

News about School Meals:

UPDATED INFORMATION REGARDING FREE  BREAKFAST/LUNCH

We are offering FREE breakfast and lunch for all students through the end of the 2020-2021 school year. When in Plan B, students can grab breakfast from our School Food and Nutrition Services staff at a breakfast cart and receive meals in the cafeteria at lunchtime. On virtual learning days, meals can be picked up from our Grab-and-Go meal distribution.

We’re offering free breakfast and lunch for all students through the end of the school year

Mehlville School District has received a waiver from the USDA that allows our School Food and Nutrition Services staff to serve free meals to all children 18 and under living in Mehlville School District through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.

When students arrive at school, they can pick up free breakfast from a staff member at a breakfast cart. They will take breakfast with them to their classroom where they will eat before class begins.

Several safeguards are in place to protect students from the spread of COVID-19 while at lunch. Teachers are having students wash their hands prior to coming to the cafeteria. Our SFNS staff are wearing masks, washing their hands frequently and sanitizing surfaces often. Additionally, items are being individually wrapped and prepackaged, and students are sitting in assigned areas of the cafeteria and spaced out as much as possible to allow for social distancing.

While meals are free, a la carte options are available for purchase at middle and high school cafeterias. Money can be added to your child’s My School Bucks account to purchase extras with their lunch.

Changes to Grab-and-Go meals distribution beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27

With high school students transitioning to Plan B: Blended on Tuesday, Oct. 27, changes are being made to Grab-and-Go meal distribution times.

On Mondays, meals will be distributed at all district schools from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. On Tuesdays through Fridays, meals will be distributed at Mehlville High School (3200 Lemay Ferry Road) and Oakville High School (5557 Milburn Road) from 9-9:45 a.m.

The change in time will allow our SFNS staff to distribute grab-and-go-meals to students learning virtually and ensure that high school students are able to social distance and safely eat lunch throughout the day.

Grab-and-go meals are available for all children 18 and under living in Mehlville School District, even if they are not district students.
